January 27, 2021

After the stress of the last year, it’s time to prioritize our health and wellness more than ever. What better time than now? At the beginning of a fresh year! You deserve to take care of yourself first.

Choosing a resolution, sticking to it and succeeding takes effort, but we promise, can be done. It all starts with choosing the resolution and creating a game plan to make it happen.

Take note of our resolution tips and tricks and you’re on your way to a 2021 full of happiness.

How To Choose a Resolution

You’re not too late to set yourself up for wellness in this new year!

It’s tough to find time at the close of the year in the middle of the holiday season to think about resolutions, so we don’t blame you if you’re thinking about goals for the year mid-January… Honestly, you can do it any time of the year!

First of all… Spoiler alert: It’s all about you, there are no wrong answers.

Choosing your resolution(s) should come down to things that mean the most to you. Be realistic about what you can and should do this upcoming year. Think of what will make you proud of accomplishing.

As we mentioned, health and wellness is pretty important and is a great theme for your 2021 resolutions. Ask yourself, are you taking care of yourself? Do you need to dedicate more time to your health in the new year?

Choose a resolution (or two) that gets you excited to get started.

Tips For Sticking to Your Resolution

Ok, time to make it happen. Now that you have your resolution, it helps to have a rough idea of how you’re going to make it happen. We have a few tips to consider when sticking to your resolution.

Have an Accountability Partner

It can be hard to keep yourself accountable. It helps to have a person there who knows your goals and are there to push you when you’re doubting yourself or thinking of skipping out on your resolution.

Keep a Record

A huge form of motivation is seeing results! Whether your resolution is to read more books, lose weight or sleep better, you can keep a record each day to show yourself what you’re capable of and that it’s possible.

Give Yourself a Break

Your resolution isn’t the end-all-be-all. You’re allowed to take a break when you need it, just don’t forget to come back when you’re ready!

Allow Room to Change

Life is uncertain and full of curveballs. In order for you to reach your goals, you might need to be a little flexible and willing to bend. Be open to change and adapting to the unknown so you’re not going to be thrown for a loop and lose your progress with a small inconvenience.

Set Goals Within Your Resolution

If your resolution is a big goal of yours, it can help to set up small goals within them to keep your motivation up and excitement for the goal going.

Wellness Resolutions to Consider

Now let’s talk about some wellness-related resolutions that are proven to make a difference in your day to day life.

Get Better Sleep

You know us, always thinking about your beauty sleep!

This should be on your list, especially if you’re one of the 35% of adults who don’t get enough sleep. Sleep is the difference between a good and bad mood, productivity and laziness, and overall wellbeing.

Resolution Ideas: Follow a new nighttime routine or earlier bedtime.

Fitness Goals

Regular exercise can improve mental and physical health a ton, and makes for a great resolution. Studies show that even a 10-minute workout has measurable benefits to overall wellbeing.

The key here is to be realistic and create a resolution that is attainable and safe for you. Grab your accountability partner and hit the gym!

Resolution Ideas: Start going to kickboxing classes or reach a new PR on the squat rack.

Learn Something New

The world is your oyster! Setting a resolution to learn and expand your mind in 2021 can have a great effect on your overall well-being. In fact, one study showed art classes in particular were correlated to better wellbeing.

Resolution Ideas: Learn a new word every day, or take painting classes.

Take Up a New Hobby

Having a hobby is not only a form of self-care, but is also proven to increase happiness. Allow yourself some time each day to do something you love!

Resolution Ideas: Meditate daily, or learn to knit.

Ditch a Bad Habit

It’s okay, we all have them! Make 2021 the year you kick the unhealthy habit and fit in the time and energy for something better.

Resolution Ideas: Skip the alcohol, or delete social media.

2021 is a blank slate, and we hope you dedicate it to the health and wellness of you and your loved ones. Try not to feel overwhelmed when setting your resolution, instead, feel inspired and excited to put yourself first this year with a resolution you’ll be excited about!
